Trail Rating : Good beach run, but not a trail trainer.

Description : No trails in park area. Beach is both had an soft. It is difficult to identify when you will sink in the sand, even when you run in the wet areas.

Length : Easy to run 10-15 miles.

Footing : Sand - Loose sand above the high tide mark. Sand at high tide mark dries fast and returns to loose state. Area just above surf is sometimes hard and sometimes soft.

Terrain Profile : Flat

Water Availability : Carry it. Available at camp ground.

Access : Parking at Campground or in day visitor area.

Other Users : Sun bathers, kite fliers.

Driving Directions : From North - Rt 12 down the Outer Banks, take free ferry across from Hatteras, about 18 miles south on left is the Park.

From South ; Ferry across from Cedar Island to Ocracoke, drive 3 miles north on Rt 12, Park on right.
