Description : From NP HQ to Maricopa Point is paved. The remainder of the trail out to Hermits Rest is not paved. This run was from HQ to Hopi Point and back a distance of 9 miles.
Length : 9 miles.
Footing : Fairly good footing all along the trail. The paved sections are like a bike path.
Terrain Profile : There are two hills in this trail. One is from HQ and gradual descent to Bright Angel Lodge(.9 miles), probably 50-100 ft. The second is just past BA, you climb about 150 ft in a short distance (.25 miles. The remainder is fairly flat.
Water Availability : Carry it.
Access : Parking area at NP HQ.
