: Rim Trail, Hermits Rest to Hopi - Grand CanyonTrail Rating : Good. Trail from Hermits Rest is rocky single track for about 1 mile then it is fairly good.
Description : The trail runs along the edge of the canyon. Some places it is very close to the edge with only space between you and edge. These areas require care to negotiate. Most however has some trees or bushes what line the canyon edge. A couple of sections are obviously the old road bed to the Hermits Rest area, and are wide and like a gravel road. A run from Hermits Rest to HQ is about 11 miles and would be a good run. You can add the 1.4 miles of the remainder of the trail out to Mather Point and have a great run.
Length : 5.9 miles.
Footing : Fairly good footing all along the trail.
Terrain Profile : This section is basically flat, with a few ups and downs to avoid rock structures.
Water Availability : Carry it.
Access : Take shuttle bus out to Hermits Rest and run back..
Other Users : Hikers, stollers, handicap accessed.
