: Mission Tejas State ParkTrail Rating : Only a few trails of 3.5 miles total. The have both elevation and surface type changes which are good for trailing.
Description : This is one of the several small parks that are located within the Davy Crockett National Forest. The Ratcliff Lake or Piney Creek parks may be more appropriate for running as they are documented to have trails of 20 and 45 miles respectively. By linking together the three trails and running in both directions you can get about 6 miles of running in the park.
Length : Hiking Trail - 1.5 mi, Pond Nature Trail- 1.2 mi, Cabin Trail - .8 mi
Footing : Texas sandy loam, some rocks and roots.
Terrain Profile : Several climbs, two steep .25 miles each, two long and gradual ~.75 mile each.
Water Availability : Carry it. Available at camp ground.
Access : Parking at Campground or in day visitor area.
Other Users : Some walkers.
Nearest City : Alto, TX
Driving Directions : Alto is on Rt 69 north of Lufkin. In Alto take Rt 21, 12 miles west and the park is on the right, near a town called Wenches. If you go another 2-3 miles west and turn south on FR227 for about 10 miles you will find Ratcliff.
