Trail : The Rim Trail - Lincoln National Forest

Trail Rating : Good trail. Moderate with some rough spots.

Description : The Rim Trail, about 22 miles in length, is above Cloudcroft. It is multiple access including hiking, bikes, horses and ATV's. It is a moderate climb. This is at a 9000' elevation which creates its own set of issues. Weather is subject to change, so preparation is recommended. Access to trail is along Sunspot Highway(6563) starting at Slide Campground and from paved pullouts along 6563 and Forest roads branching off 6563.

Footing : The footing ranges from great to rough. Only a few rough spots

Terrain Profile : Some climbs, but mostly rollng.

Water Availability : Carry it. Available at campground.

Access : Parking area a trail head in campground, pullouts along 6563 and on forest roads.

Driving Directions : From Almagordo take NM 82 east to Cloudcroft. Trail is at the Tresle Recreation area
